The high school TV studio is spreading the talent of our student athletes to more people than ever before, thanks to the streaming of Red Lion athletic events through the studio’s High School Cube website.
“Live streaming is like watching TV but instead of tuning in to a specific channel, you watch it on a website,” TV studio director Mr. Ben Smith said.
The live streaming event is filmed and broadcasted on the web in real time. For example, as kickoff begins at a home football game, it is filmed and broadcasted to an online feed accesible to a world-wide audience. This helps people who can’t attend Red Lion sporting events in person, still support the athletic teams regardless.
“We just recently started using live stream more frequently,” live stream director Mr. Keith Blackwell said. “We just learned how to do it a couple years ago.”
An additional TriCaster (electronic video feed switchboard) has made it possible for an increase in live stream broadcasts.
In addition to the live streaming of athletic events, events such as graduation day for the 2014 class have already been scheduled as future broadcasts.
As for now, streaming is limited to athletic events only taking place at Horn Field and the Fitzkee Center where there is high-speed internet.
Live streams are available via the link on the district website through HighSchoolCube.com.
