“Wow, I wish I could draw like that.”
“I didn’t know this person could paint so well.”
These are just a couple of phrases someone would hear walking through the commons area at any given moment. You may have even said it yourself.
“Art is life; it’s meant to be enjoyed,” art teacher, Mr. Hopkins, said about art itself. Art students have been able to showcase their art in the commons area since it has made its grand opening in 2009. But not all art students’ work is hung. You have to be the best of the best. The artists are basically the “MVP” of the art community. “They enhance the looks of the school,” said Mr. Hopkins.
“They’re fabulous,” said senior Steph Lincoln about the showcased artwork. Students love the artwork being displayed for everyone. Athletes have trophy cases all over the school. The commons area is like the top-level art students trophy cases.
Junior Jon Collins said, “I enjoy them.” The paintings have a positive effect on the student body. Everyone can relate to them in some way, whether they know the artist or they just like how it looks.
Paintings are changed every so often to give others a chance to get their painting hung and to keep them interesting. The pieces of art in the commons area are just another reason to make art.
