Red Lion has been and is renowned for it’s musical program. With great teachers and dedicated students, Red Lion has been a hotbed for musical talent.
Now we can add one more great teacher to our musical faculty. There is a new strings teacher and her name is Mrs. McDaniel.
She is a strings teacher for both the junior and senior high schools. This year will be her sixth year teaching music.
She said how excited she was to start teaching here.”I am very excited to start teaching here., Iit’s part of a wonderful music program and I’m happy to add to it.”
What drew her towards music in the first place?”I grew up playing my viola in my school’s orchestra and it was where I fit in and I want to provide that opportunity to everybody else.” McDaniel said.
She said why she enjoys teaching strings.”I enjoy teaching because I enjoyed learning strings growing up.”Mcdaniel said.
She previously teached in Annapolis, Maryland. She enjoys hiking in nice weather, coffee, and reading books.
Our country has faced an epidemic in childhood and adulthood obesity. Red Lion has made great efforts to help students learn to be active and have a healthy lifestyle.
Mrs. Gillis attended Messiah College before becoming a teacher. She previously taught at the junior high and this will be her ninth year teaching.
She talked about what she liked about Red Lion Senior High School. “I like the change in pace, I like the age group, I like the content of health class, and everybody is really nice.” Gillis said.
She also talked about how excited she was to come here. “I was really excited because I asked to come over from the junior high.”
Of course, since she is a health teacher, she talked about staying healthy. “Getting enough sleep is an important one for me, making sure that we are eating properly and taking care of ourselves.” Gillis said.
She will add to an already spectacular staff of health and physical education teachers. She enjoys playing sports, walks, and playing with her two kids.
