It’s that time of year again when you can sit down, relax, grab some candy, and flip on Halloween themed movies. Of course, there are several to pick from, and I have chosen three of my favorites.
I’ll start with one of the classics that I’m sure most of you have at least heard of. The movie Hocus Pocus was made in 1993 and was directed by Kenny Ortega.
The movie won’t keep you in your seat for too long because it’s only an hour and 36 minutes, but it’s sure to keep you occupied. This fantasy-comedy takes place in Salem, Mass., where three witch sisters are resurrected on Halloween night.
They soon learn that a lot of things are different in the 20th century than 300 years ago. They must achieve all of their goals by sunrise or they will disintegrate. It’s up to Max, Allison, Dani, and the cat Binx to stop the witches and save everyone. I look forward to watching this movie every year because I grew up watching it with my friends.
It lasts an hour and 16 minutes, and you’ll fall in love with within the first few seconds. The movie tells the story of a skeleton named Jack Skellington, someone who’s from “Halloween Town,” that comes across a portal to “Christmas Town.”
Jack decides to celebrate the newly discovered holiday and bring it to “Halloween Town,” along with several consequences.
The last movie I’ll recommend came out over the summer for horror fans. The Conjuring 2 was directed by James Wan and it will keep you clinging to your friend for two hours and 14 minutes.
It’s a sequel from the first movie, but you don’t need to watch it in order to understand the plot. The film follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they travel to England to look into poltergeist activity.
They investigate the Hodgson family and find Mr. Wilkin’s spirit who is possessing one of the children named Janet. They must try and find out who he is and what he wants with the family. This was definitely one of my favorite scary movies, considering it actually kept me on the edge of my seat.
All of the movies get me ready and excited for the upcoming holiday. Everyone should embrace the spookiness and indulge into some of these awesome movies.
Those are my favorites to watch during this season, what’s yours?
